Michael Mann of Penn State has been trying to keep articles by Patrick Michaels of the Cato Institute out of peer-reviewed journals, reports Juliet Eilperin of the Washington Post. “There’s an egregious problem here, their intimidation of journal editors,” Michaels complains. What we want to see is the two of them in a steel-cage death match….
In all seriousness, I wonder whether it would be thought appropriate for a peer-reviewed journal in any of the hard sciences to publish an article by someone from an institution the political leanings of which are as well-publicized as those of the Cato Institute. The Washington Post article mentions a new book by a climate scientist at Stanford University that may shed some light on what goes on when climate scientists are speaking “out of school.”
Has anyone inquiry into what kind of revelations might be forthcoming, if someone illegally hacked the e-mail server of a leading climate-change skeptic? Just asking….
